bloomia has been recognized by Whole Foods Market as a winner of the grocer’s ninth annual Supplier Awards, taking home the honor of Purpose Driven Environment. The Whole Foods Market Supplier Awards distinguish 42 companies that raised the bar in 2020, including local, regional and national branches across all product categories.

The Purpose Driven Empowerment recognition is awarded to suppliers that are aligned with Whole Foods Market’s core value to care for our communities.

“We are thrilled to accept the Purpose Driven Empowerment award from Whole Foods Market,” said Werner Jansen, General Manager of bloomia. “We are especially proud of our work in reducing our carbon footprint and look forward to exploring more energy efficient ways to continue our progress in sustainability in the future with Whole Foods Market.”

While constantly in search mode, bloomia reviews and seeks opportunities to be “conscious” about the environment and the impact the operation has. “The fact that we are a local grown farm makes our carbon footprint significantly less,” says Jansen.

In continued efforts, bloomia is working on forms to run the operation with alternative forms of power. This not only includes solar energy but also incorporates digestive systems from the plant waste collected.

bloomia is also part of the recently launched Whole Foods Market Sourced for Good seal to help customers identify products that support workers, communities and the environment. bloomia is honored to be one of the first domestic products donning the seal.
